Washington should take a principled stand that excludes from the democratic process not just terrorists but also totalitarians using the system to get into power and stay there. It is not enough for Islamist organizations to renounce violence; being irredeemably autocratic, they must be excluded from elections. वाशिंगटन को कुछ ऐसे सैद्धांतिक कदम उठाने चाहिए जिससे न केवल आतंकवादियों को वरन् अधिनायकवादियों को भी सत्ता में आने के लिए और बने रहने के लिए लोकतांत्रिक पद्धति का उपयोग करने से रोका जा सके . इस्लामवादी संगठनों द्वारा हिंसा की आलोचना करना ही पर्याप्त नहीं है उनके अक्षम्य अधिनायकवादी स्वभाव के कारण उन्हें चुनावों से अलग रखना चाहिए.
